The 5-inch displays seem to become the stars of the smartphone segment in 2013, and Samsung looks like it wants to lead the pack.
New rumors, hinted as 100% accurate by the guys at SamMobile, are pointing that the South Korea-based company will announce a brand new smartphone next month. We are talking about Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, codenamed GT-I8092, which is supposed to be a high-end smartphone with Dual-SIM support.
A Galaxy Grand variant with a single SIM card slot appeared on the radar in November in USA, and rumor has it that the two models might have identical technical specifications.
According to the gossips, the new Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos will pack a 5-inch LCD display, with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, below the one of the Galaxy S3.
Galaxy Grand Duos might feature a quad-core Samsung Exynos chipset with a processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, most likely the same unit powering the S3 flagship smartphone. A 2,100 mAh battery should be able to provide enough battery life for the dual-SIM device.
For the time being there are no extra details about the other technical specifications of the device, except that it will sport WiFi, NFC and 4G LTE. The latter two features might only arrive on the variant retailed on US territory.
As about the operating system, Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos might come with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on board, but a latter version is not out of the question.
The guys at SamMobile claim that the smartphone will fit perfectly in the mid-range segment, mostly because of the display resolution. Anyway, we’d recommend you to take the rumors with a pinch of salt, as the final version might receive some changes, especially when it comes to display resolution.
What we know for sure until today is that the Galaxy Grand Duos announcement will be made in early 2013, it will have dual-SIM support, is codenamed GT-I8092 and that it will be available in two body colors, Elegant White and Metallic Blue.
All we can do now is to wait for Samsung’s official announcement that will confirm all the details related to this model.
