The rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have reached an all time high point thanks to the announcement that Samsung is going to hold an event in London on the 3rd of May where it will announce the next device in the Galaxy lineup. The official invites for the event have already begun their journey to the owners, but they are remarkably sketchy about what Samsung is going to unveil at that date.

While there is no specific mention of the Galaxy S3 in the invites, Samsung have made it pretty clear that the whole event will be dedicated to the release of one device only. We do not know if the South Korean manufacturer will decide to stick with the Galaxy S3 name, so we will have to be patient and wait for the official event. In the past there has been a trend from major manufacturers to include some hints about the upcoming device in the invites, but this time the invite for the Samsung even only contains the text: Come and meet the next Galaxy, and some blue and white puddles of liquid. This could mean that the next Galaxy device is waterproof or even that its outer shell is made out of some sort of liquid material, although the latter seems highly implausible.

This Galaxy S II or whatever they decide to call it has been evading the spotlight for quite some time now, and there have been no leaks that could verify what it will look like or even what specs it will have. We would be lying if we said we didn’t expect Samsung’s next flagship to come with a quad core processor and at least 1 GB of RAM. As far as the other hardware is concerned, a camera of at least 8 MP is almost certain as well as Super AMOLED Display, which we hope will be of the Plus variety.

On the software side, this new Galaxy device should come with Android 4.0 ICS onboard. The only real question is if Samsung has decided to top the vanilla ICS with their own TouchWiz custom skin. If they have decide to use their skin it will be very interesting to see how it stacks up versus the Sense 4.0 made by HTC, which has already made a wonderful debut on the One series.

All in all it is very hard for us to anticipate what Samsung will come up with for their next Galaxy device, but we sincerely hope that it will live up to the high hopes people have put up for it. This device will have to be very good if it is to stack up to the well received HTC one series so will just have to wait and see what the 3rd or May will bring us.
