Sony Xperia ZR is the next device launched by the Japanese company, it is smaller than the Xperia Z and it comes with a better water-resistance that allows you to capture Full HD videos and taking pictures underwater. It should be ready for a Q2 2013 release date with a 4.6 720p HD Reality screen and the Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 software.
The best thing about the Xperia ZR is the underwater camera that you can use to record full HD videos and capture photos using the camera key. The IP55 and IP58 dust and water protection allows you to submerge the Xperia ZR up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. It resembles Sony’s flagship device, the Xperia Z and its main hardware specs are the 13MP Exmor RS camera, 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage with support for adding an external SDcard, 4G LTE, NFC, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
It seems like Sony doesn’t want to upgrade any of their devices to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean any time soon, while Google is getting ready to launch the next Jelly Bean build which will take them to Android 4.3 operating system. However, the UI for this phone will be the same as the one used on the Xperia Z and, the only differences between the Xperia ZR and Xperia Z will be its screen size and that one is Full HD while the other isn’t. As I already said, this new Sony smartphone should be ready for a Q2 release. Until then, you have enough to decide if you’re going to purchase a Xperia ZR or you’ll be turning your attention to another Android phone.
Sony media entertainment is represented by the WALKMAN function, Movies and Album apps, which allows you to browse offline and online media content. WALKMAN offers you access to all the music you’ve downloaded until now, a library that features millions of songs using the Music Unlimited and Facebook integration. Movies app will offer you access to over 150k titles.
The Sony Xperia ZR phone comes in four colors: white, black, mint and pink. It will also be released with several accessories such as wireless headset with support for FM Radio, SBH50 bluetooth headset, a smartwatch and a chargedock. The smartwatch is capable of automatically connecting to the Xperia Z. There is no official princing for this device, but it should cost no more than the Xperia T or Xperia ZL phones.
