Sony Honami is probably one of the most anticipated camera phones of the year, creating almost as much buzz as the debut of Nokia’s Lumia 1020. After some of its technical specifications leaked earlier today, there’s no doubt that the smartphone will be the Japanese company’s response to Nokia Lumia 1020 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.
Well, now we get to see the first alleged Sony Xperia Honami press photos as listed by the Chinese online retailer ePrice. Along with the Sony Xperia Honami press photos the retailer posted a list of technical specifications we already saw earlier today.
I can’t help but notice that the alleged Sony Xperia Honami is a reminiscent of the Xperia Z flagship, but it seems to me that the bezel around the display is a bit too thick for this year’s standards. It’s interesting that besides listing the Sony Xperia Honami technical specs the retailer is dedicating a special session to the Sony Lens G sensor.
The Lens G system involves Sony’s proprietary technology which is on par with the best lenses in the industry. We are talking about reproducing even the finest details and high color fidelity, courtesy of aspheric lenses.
As I was mentioning above a list of Sony Honami specs leaked along with the press photos, therefore we learn that the camera phone developed by the Japan-based phone maker will sport a 5-inch TRILUMINUOUS display with full HD resolution and X-reality engine.
According to the aforementioned source, the Sony Honami will be underpinned by Qualcomm’s mighty Snapdragon 800 chipset based on four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. The terminal will also come with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, expandable using microSD cards of up to 64 GB.
Since the camera will be the major selling point of the Honami, Sony has fitted a 20.7 megapixel sensor with Sony G Lens and BIONZ image Processing engine, while sporting a 1/2.3″ sensor.
Just like the latest flagship terminals announced by the Japan-based company, the Sony Honami will be IP55/IP57 certified, being both water and dust proof.
In terms of connectivity the smartphone will come with NFC and LTE, while being powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. It seems that the Sony Honami will be slightly bigger than the Sony Xperia Z flagship, measuring 144 x 73.9 x 8.3 mm. Running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean it will be available in three body colors: White, Black, and Purple.
Even though there are no official details about the Sony Honami release date, the smartphone is expected to debut at IFA Berlin 2013.
