Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update for Original Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact Will Arrive in the Following Weeks

Sony confirms that all original Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 series and Xperia Z Ultra devices are getting Android 5.1.1 in the following weeks. Make sure to keep an eye on all your favorite Android-based websites in order to learn when the official Lollipop 5.1 OTA Update release date is made public.

Sony has already released the Android 5.1.1 firmware update for the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact earlier today. Besides that roll out announcement they’ve also listed the Android 5.1.1 update general timeline for all their other Xperia smartphones and tablets.

First we will see the Lollipop update rolled out for Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra in the following weeks, then they will continue the roll out shortly after that for the remaining Xperia devices.

This new official Android 5.1.1 update should brings tons of visual interface improvements along with new features and functions that will make your device run better than before. The Material Design was already been added in Android 5.0.2, but it will be greatly improved by Android 5.1.1 and you will surely make you feel like a brand new device has replaced your old Xperia Z phone.

The Android 5.1.1 OTA Update for all the Xperia Z1 and original Xperia Z devices will be released over-the-air if you are running stock Android 5.0.2. No devices that runs a modified operating system/ custom ROM is going to receive the new firmware update. If you’ve modified your phone in any way, then you should consider restoring it to stock Android 5.0.2 before the official Android 5.1 roll out takes place in the following weeks.
