We’ve seen the Sony Xperia Ion back in January at CES, Las Vegas and didn’t hear anything about it ever since. At least not until know, when an ad appeared in Gmail, suggesting that AT&T will get it in June exclusively. We suppose the ad was created by either AT&T or Sony and hopefully it’s true, because it should mean the release date is pretty close.
When Sony revealed the Xperia Ion at CES, they hinted at a Q2 release date and now it seems like the time has come.
The new Sony Xperia Ion is looking to compete with the nowadays titans, Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, though we shall see if it manages to. It features a 1.5Ghz dual-core CPU, 720p 4.7-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 12MP 1080p camera, and 4G LTE support.
Unfortunately it will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, though it will be updated to the already old Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s European version is Sony Xperia S, which has been pretty successful, though was never able to compete with HTC’s and Samsung’s devices.
The price is still unknown, but we will probably find out more information soon, once AT&T outs an official press release.
