The Japan-based phone maker officially revealed today that they are now pushing the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update to Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia T2 Ultra Dual.
According to the changelog posted on the company’s blog the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Android 4.4.2 update arrives with the usual KitKat goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, cloud printing, immersive mode, color emoji support, new Location menu, or full screen album and movie art in the lock screen, along with the new Xperia UI that’s a reminiscent of PlayStation 4’s interface.
The new firmware update also tweaks the Status Bar and the Quick Settings panel, and updates Sony’s native apps such as Messaging, MyXoeria, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, TrackID TV, Sony Select, or Smart Social Camera. It also brings updates for Sony’s native media apps: WALKMAn, Album and Movies. The new update also adds compatibility with Sony’s SmartWear Experience, SmartBand SWR10, and Lifelog app.
As usual, the Xperia T2 Ultra Android 4.4 KitKat update is being rolled out in stages, which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. Once your device will be ready to receive the new firmware you should receive a system update message in the notification bar. Tap on it, choose download, then choose install after the download is finished. In case the system update notification failed to show up, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.
The Android 4.4.2 update for Xperia T2 Ultra should have a size of over 500 MB, therefore we recommend you to download it using a stable WiFi connection in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
Sony also revealed that they are also planning to bring the new Android 4.4 KitKat update to the Xperia E1, Xperia M2, and Xperia M2 Dual, without announcing the ETA of the new firmware update.
