Samsung is preparing to release the Galaxy S4 sometime in March, and the HTC One (aka HTC M7) is days away from seeing daylight. These two devices seem to be the more expected ones, but there is another one, which appears that is having a great success before actually being launched, the Sony Xperia Z.
The Xperia Z was announced last month at CES, and appears to be the most wanted handset among others which also were unveiled then. The 5-inch smartphone is available only in Japan, for now. However, the availability won’t be an issue for much longer.
There is good news for the users who want the new Sony Xperia Z in their hands, as it will be launched in three more countries. The company will release the Xperia Z in Finland and Ireland as of February 28th and Australia next month (we don’t know the exact date, yet), according to some official sources.
In Ireland, the Sony Xperia Z will be firstly available at O2, with a price tag starting from €189 ($252). Of course, this price is available only if you sign a contract with carrier. In case you don’t want a contract and you have more money to spend, you can choose to buy the prepaid version which starts at €579 ($772).
The sad part is that you probably won’t be able to get the Xperia Z exactly on February 28, as the pre-orders are no longer available at O2 because of the lack of stock (it looks like the Irish are eager to get the Sony Xperia Z). However, all other important carriers from Ireland claim that they will, too, offer the handset soon enough. For instance, Three announced the release date as being March 1st.
On the other hand, Meteor and Vodafone are not very clear on the release date, only specifying that the device will come soon, and when those words are used it usually means that it’ll probably gonna take a while.
As I said, the Sony Xperia Z will be released in Finland, as well. The only problem is that the smartphone will be available only without a contract (the prepaid version). The phone will be available at two carriers namely Verkkokauppa and Giganti, having similar price tags of €730 and ($973) and €740 ($9850, respectively. Again, the release that of the Sony Xperia Z February 28th, as well.
Last, but not least, the Sony Xperia Z has received a launch confirmation for the second time, so there is no doubt that the device will arrive in the land down under, and the Australian people can calm down. The handheld will go on sale sometime at the end of March.
There are three carriers that will offer the Xperia Z in Australia namely Vodafone, Telstra and Optus. We only know the price for the prepaid version which will be around AU $700. Also, another Sony smartphone is expected in Australia, the Xperia ZL. However, reports say that it will be a little bit delayed until April at least.
