The Android 4.4.3 update for Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition is now available for download, just a couple of days after the same firmware has been rolled out for the likes of Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013.
The Sony Xperia Z Ultra GPE Android 4.4.3 update is being rolled out over-the-air and it has the same build number as the firmware pushed to the Nexus 7 2013 owners: KTU84L. It’s also worth noting that the update is being rolled out in stages which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away.
Just like everyone anticipated we are dealing with minor update, so the Android 4.4.3 update for Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition is focusing on improving system performance and stability and resolving various bugs. The most visible change brought by the update is the new phone dialer app which introduces a card-based interface for the favorite contacts section and a new color scheme for the phone dialer itself.
Once your Sony Xperia Z Ultra GPE becomes eligible to receive Android 4.4.3, you should receive a system update message in the notification bar. Tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions. If the system update notification hasn’t arrived, you should also check for the new firmware manually under Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now.
The Xperia Z Ultra GPE owners who already received the new firmware have reported that the update file has a size of around 150 MB. We are recommending you download the update using a WiFi network to avoid unwanted data charges and to have your phone charged at least 50% so it won’t turn off during the installation.
Are there any Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition owners among you? Have you received the Android 4.4.3 OTA update? Please let us know in comments.
