The Sony Xperia Z1 Android 4.3 OTA update is now being pushed to the users, so if you happen to own one keep your eyes on the System update menu.
As usual, the Android 4.3 OTA update for Xperia Z1 is being rolled out in phases and the users who purchased the unlocked variant will be the first receive the new firmware. If you didn’t receive the system update notification yet, there’s no reason to panic. If you are lucky enough you may find it by performing a manual check. In order to do so head to Settings > About phone > System update then hit the Check now button. If this doesn’t work either, then try pressing the “Check now” button every two seconds or so. In this way you will show the folks at Sony that you really want the update and they will push it to you ahead of schedule.
Aside of the Jelly Bean-specific features, the Android 4.3 update for Xperia Z1 will also bring improvements to the Sony native apps like Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, along with the new Xperia Themes, which allows you to download UI themes from Sony Select.
In the Sony blog post detailing the Android 4.3 update for Sony Xperia Z1, the Japanese company also mentions that the “Android 4.3 Jelly Bean rollout for the remaining Sony Xperia products is right around the corner.”
It’s been a very buys for Sony and its fans as well. After the Japanese company officially unveiled the Google Play Edition of the massive Xperia Z Ultra, the Xperia L has been added to the AOSP for Xperia project, and the first Android 4.3 builds leaked for the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL.
