Sony Xperia Z1 Specs Officially Revealed: 20.7 MP G Lens Camera, 5-inch FHD Display, Snapdragon 800 CPU
Sony just unveiled its highly-anticipated camera phone, the Xperia Z1, a device that was known internally as Sony Honami. A couple of hours ago we showed you the leaked press release of the Sony Xperia Z1, thus the official announcement of the new terminal was only a formality.
Just like the rumor mill anticipated the Sony Xperia Z1 comes with a full HD 5-inch display with Triluminos panel and X-Reality for mobile post-processing engine. Since the Xperia Z1 will become Sony’s flagship smartphone for the end of 2013, the hardware platform is based on Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 800 chispet with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU.
The new terminal comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, but it will also allow the users to add microSD cards to expand the storage capacities of the terminal.
As you can see in the picture above, the new Xperia Z1 fits into the design lines introduced earlier this year by the Xperia Z and continued by the Xperia Z Ultra, having sharp edges and glossy finishing. The new handset is IP55, IP58, and IPX certified, meaning that it will be both water and dust proof.
Since we are talking about a high-end smartphone circa 2013 the connectivity features will include WiFi in all standards, NFC, infra red port, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0.
There’s no doubt that the main selling point of the Sony Xperia Z1 will be its camera, as the smartphone packs a 20.7 megapixel sensor with Sony G Lens, BSI sensor, autofocus, HDR, red-eye reduction, Smile Shutter, LED flash, and 1080p@30fps video recording support. I know, the rumor mill speculated that Sony Honami will shoot 4K videos, but they proved to be just rumors in the end.
All these will be powered by a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery which, according to Sony, will be capable of getting the smartphone through 830 minutes of talk time.
The new Sony Xperia Z1 is 144 mm tall, 74 mm wide, and just 8.5 mm thin, while weighing 170 grams. Running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box with Sony’s proprietary Xperia UI on top of it, the smartphone will be available for purchase in three body colors: purple, white, and black.
The audio capabilities of the Sony Xperia Z1 will include 3D Surround Sound, ClearAudio+, Clear bass, Clear Phase, WALKMAN application and xLoud Experience.
There’s no word about the Sony Xperia Z1 price yet, but the officials of the Japanese phone maker announced that the new terminal will become available for purchase on selected markets as of Q4 2013.
