Sony’s latest and greatest flagship, the Xperia Z2, is now officially available for purchase in India. For what it’s worth, the Xperia Z2 was already available for purchase at major retailers in the UK and in Sony’s US online store. On the Indian market, the Xperia Z2 will hit the stores on May 15.
The Sony Xperia Z2 has a price tag of Rs. 49,990 ($833), making the device Rs. 6,300 ($104) more expensive than its main rival, the Samsung Galaxy S5.
In case you’re wondering what you’ll get for Rs. 49,990, hear that the Sony Xperia Z2 arrives with a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974-AB v3) SoC with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and quad-core Adreno 330 GPU. On the Indian market the Galaxy S5 arrives with Samsung’s proprietary oct-core Exynos 5 Octa processor with quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex A15 CPU + quad-core 1.3 Cortex A7 CPU.
The Sony Xperia Z2 technical specs also include a 1080p 5.2-inch LCD screen, 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of native storage, microSD card slot (up to 128 GB), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, LTE Category 4, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, microUSB 2.0, and a 3,200 mAh battery).
On the back of the Sony flagship there’s a 20.7 MP camera with 1/2.3-inch sensor size and support for 4K video recording at 30fps. The front panel accommodates a 2.2 MP cam. On the Indian market the Xperia Z2 will be available in black, white, and purple. The device has an IP58 certification meaning that it’s both water and dust proof.
