The Sony Xperia ZL is a high-end phone which has almost the same characteristics as the Xperia Z with the difference that the former isn’t waterproof and has a distinct aspect ratio. The Xperia ZL has not captured the highlight like its twin brother, but this doesn’t mean that it doesn’t deserve attention.
The reason why the ZL was left out of the spotlight is that it has a more delayed release date than the Xperia Z. Now things are looking good for the Xperia Z as it’s about to be launched in Europe, according to a Russian publication.
The Russian market will receive the Sony Xperia ZL at the beginning of March, after which the device will become available in more countries in Europe. The Russians won’t be happy to hear that the smartphone will cost round 27,000 rubles or $880, which seems a little too expensive, but considering that the Xperia Z is sold for 3,000 rubles extra ($100), it’s only natural that the ZL will have a comparable price.
Other than Russia, the only other countries where the Xperia ZL is set to launch so far are Canada and Germany. The smartphone is going to be released sometime in April in both countries. So, you if you want to get it you better start saving some money as it won’t come cheap. In Germany, the price of the Sony Xperia ZL will reportedly be €599.99 ($785), while in Canada the device will be sold for around $700, or less if you have a little luck.
For those who don’t know the specs of the handset, the Xperia ZL comes with a 5-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080, a Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, support for microSD card, and a 2,370 mAh battery. It also has a 13 megapixel rear camera, 4G LTE support and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which is due for update soon when it will receive Android 4.2.
