Sony Xperia ZL Release Date Is April, It’s Cheaper Than The Xperia Z

Sony Xperia ZL release date

Announced together at CES 2013 in January, Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL were to of the most popular smartphones that showed up at the Las Vegas-based event, being the first smartphones of the Japanese phone maker powered by a quad-core processor.

We already know that Sony Xperia Z release date for the European market was set for the second half of March, but, for the time being, the price of the Xperia Z smartphone is still unknown. Anyway, we’ve seen the Xperia Z listed for pre-order at a price of €650.

The other Sony smartphone presented at CES 2013, the Xperia ZL, received a bit less media coverage. But, if you want a slightly smaller smartphone with technical specifications similar to Xperia Z, you can wait until April when Xperia ZL hits the market.

The estimated price of the Sony Xperia ZL was spotted in Germany and will be relevant for the European market. Xperia ZL is a bit cheaper than the Sony Xperia Z, having a price tag of €500. If you are reading this from US, you should expect the Sony Xperia ZL to come at a price of $500.

The biggest difference between the Xperia ZL and Xperia Z is the size. While the flagship device measures 139 x 71 x 7.9 mm and weighs 146 grams, Xperia ZL is 131.6 mm tall, 69.3 mm wide and 9.8 mm thick, weighing in 151 grams. Another difference between the is that the Xperia ZL doesn’t come with dust and water proof case.

Just like its taller brother, Sony Xperia ZL packs a 5-inch TFT display with full HD resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with four 1.5 GHz Krait cores, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage. The microSD slot can accommodate cards of up to 64 GB, while the connectivity features include LTE, WiFi in all standards, NFC chip, Bluetooth 4.0, 3.5 mm jack, and microUSB 2.0.

Sony Xperia Z boasts a 13 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, image stabilization, HDR, sweep panorama, and full HD video recording support at 30 fps. The front-facing 2 megapixel camera also comes with 1080p @ 30fps video recording support.

what source was used for the €500 price tag?? I’ve read elsewhere that it will be €600…I prefer the sound of 500!

The Z comes in at $749 in Australia due mid to late March with all major carriers.
The ZL, my preference, slightly thicker, a little heavier (155g), a side camera button, the same 5″ screen with a thinner bezzle, plastic back, smaller overall dimentions & no waterproofing, won’t be coming to this country or Sony is yet to decide. Is cheaper, by how much is anybody’s guess.
I may buy on-line from Hong Kong because for one it will be available. Two it will be cheaper & 3, they use the same 1800Mhz 4G lte frequency.
For me it’s a must have item.
