Sprint has finally rolled out the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA Update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones.
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat should arrive starting today for all Sprint Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones all over the United States. With the brand new update your will get tons of new features and functions that should greatly improve your overall Android experience.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA Update will add new white status bar icons, new lock screen features such as camera shortcuts, album media player art, unified messaging application support so that you can use only one app for all SMS and chat sessions, expanded emoji icons, consolidated location settings, better battery life, improve multitasking, new wireless printing support, closed captions for Samsung and Google subtitles, full-screen immersive mode for an enormous amount of Android applications, new versions of S features, and more.
The update will sent directly to your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini notification panel by Sprint and you will simply need to press the confirmation box when the update is ready to download and install. Your smartphone will then take care of the rest and install all Android 4.4.2 features without you needing to interact with its interface.
Note that this update is being rolled out in phases and this means that not all Sprint Galaxy S4 Mini phones will receive the new L520VPUBNE3 KitKat 4.4.2 at the same time. Some users will get the firmware today and by the end of this month, while the rest of the US Galaxy S4 Mini Sprint users will receive the update by the end of this month.
If you don’t know whether the update has been released or not to your device, then there is a way for you to verify that: go to Settings> About Phone> Software Update and then use the ‘check now’ button and see if there are any new Android 4.4.2 KitKat updating files available for your phone. If there is a new update available for download, then it would be best for you to use the Wi-Fi connection in order to get all files without going over your mobile data plan.
Keep in mind that this update is rolled out only for the stock Sprint Galaxy S4 Mini L520 models, so you won’t get official Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA in case you run a custom ROM.
If you got the new firmware upgrade you should use the comments field and tell us, so that all the other owners of Galaxy S4 Mini on Sprint learn about it and to expect the notification to arrive in any moment.
This new update has already hit the Verizon and AT&T models of Galaxy S4 Mini. There is also a manual installation guide that AT&T Galaxy S4 Mini users can follow and update there device without waiting for the OTA Upgrade notification to arrive.
