Sprint users of HTC One M8 should start checking their smartphone’s notifications panel as there might be listed a brand new Android 4.4.3 firmware update.
Sprint has confirmed the news on their own device support page.
With Android 4.4.3 installed on your Sprint HTC One M8 you will get a new OS version with Wi-Fi Calling support, HD Voice icon, stability tweaks, some security enhancements and battery life improvements. Everyone thought that the new update would be to Android 4.4.4, but Sprint has something else in mind and most probably we will have to wait another month before the latest KitKat build arrives.
In Android 4.4.3 KitKat all the HTC One M8 users on Sprint will get the Wi-Fi Calling feature that offers the possibility of placing voice calls and sending SMS text messages using only Wi-Fi networks. So, from now on you will be able to avoid using up the entire plan, but for Wi-Fi Calling to work you will need to setup an account and register your Wi-Fi networks.
It seems like there aren’t any other major changes added by Android 4.4.3 KitKat, but you can still install the update and then look for tweaks and other new features that we might have missed.
HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is going to roll out in stages and you might not get the new firmware right away. Don’t worry if the update doesn’t arrive as it will surely be delivered by the end of this month for all Sprint HTC One M8 users.
If the update arrives you should simply confirm the download and installation process, after that your phone will take care of the rest. Also, you can choose to search manually for new firmware updates by going to Settings> System Updates> HTC Software Updates> Check Now. If Android 4.4.3 KitKat is available for download, confirm the process.
Tell us in comments if you got the update and if there are any other major changes that we didn’t list in this post.
