The Twitter for Android users who are in the beta program will be able to enjoy the new app release sooner than the other users, just like it happens with any other beta apps. The new update which will soon get out of beta brings a good-looking interface, a warmly welcomed change as the old UI was a bit too boring.
Unfortunately, the Twitter v5.0 update doesn’t bring tablet optimizations. The new version brings Android-specific tabs, in-line media previews, and an action bar. Just like the Google Plus and the Facebook apps you will get an options area on the left, where the options are arranged vertically.
You will be able to switch between Twitter Home, Notifications, Messages, Activity, and Trending screens using swipe gestures, but for the time being the app is a bit laggy since it’s still in beta.
The 5.0 update didn’t bring a revised widget either, which reminding of the Gingerbread era. If you are brave enough you can head to Android Police to download the APK and you will even find more details and specs there.
