Update AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note i717 to UCLD3 Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-I717-Toouch

This is the second leaked ROM for the AT&T Galaxy Note i717 and it works extremely well, unlike the first one. The first leak, UCLC5 was full of bugs and was lacking a lot of features, while this one is very fast, doesn’t have too many bugs and it comes with all features, except for Samsung’s Premium Suite.

While this doesn’t come with any new features alongside the stock ICS, at least it includes them all and it can be really used on your Galaxy Note.

Updating to the UCLD3 is really easy, though we will first help you prepare the installation. It doesn’t matter what ROM you are on right now, because the flashing process is the same for all. We will first help your prepare your Galaxy Note i717 and PC for the installation and then tell you how to backup your entire device or just contacts, SMS messages, call logs and files.

Preparing the update

Before you start the update, you have to make sure that you meet the following requirements:

  • Your battery must be at least 50% charged.
  • You need the latest Galaxy Note drivers. Download here.
  • You must have USB Debugging enabled. Go to Developer tools to enable it.
  • You must be running Windows, because it will not work on Mac or Linux, unfortunately.

Backup Galaxy Note i717

Rooted

If your device is rooted and you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed, you can do a nandroid backup, so you will be able to recover your phone in its current state if you don’t like the UCLD3 ICS. Reboot your device in recovery mode, go to Backup and Restore, choose either internal or external SD card and then choose yes.

In order to restore it you will have to boot in recovery mode again and go to backup & restore, then choose to restore from the location you saved it to.

But if you decide that you want to stay on Ice Cream Sandwich, you have to follow the “not rooted” guide to so you can get back your contacts, SMS messages, call logs and files after you flash it.

Not rooted

If your device is not rooted, you will not be able to perform a nandroid backup, so you will have to backup everything manually. Fortunately we have some apps for this, which will make your job easier.

We suggest that you sync your contacts with your Google account, so you can sync them again later and they will be downloaded to your device. To restore SMS messages use SMS Backup & Restore, for call logs use Call Logs Backup & Restore, while you can move your files ( video, audio, documents ) to your internal or external SD card and they will be safe.

Update Samsung Galaxy Note i717 to UCLD3 Ice Cream Sandwich

Like I said before, updating the Galaxy Note to UCLD3 is very easy. First you have to download SGH-I717UCLD3-1FB30D08F1D2B2AAAECF49D262E8E707.exe here. Launch the downloaded file, turn off the device, and boot into download mode by pressing the volume down + power buttons simultaneously.

Now connect the device to your computer and make sure you will see “0:[COM#]” in the box. If this doesn’t show up, then you have to make sure that you prepared your phone and computer accordingly. Wait until the phone reboots and then you can disconnect it from your computer.

Now your AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note i717 will be running the latest 4.0.3 IML74K.UCLD3 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM. If you encounter any issues, please let us know and we will do our best to help you. Also please let us know how it works and if you notice any bugs.

If you want to root your Galaxy Note i717 without increasing the flash counter, follow our guide here.
