Update Galaxy Note 2 N7100 with leaked Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 Firmware

Samsung is preparing the release of Android 4.3 for its Galaxy Note 2 N7100 handsets, but until the OTA will be rolled out you can easily apply the leaked versions of the Jelly Bean software. The latest Android 4.3 OS that has been leaked for the Note 2 is the firmware dubbed as XXUEMJ5. The same update has been pushed out officially for the Galaxy S4 users, so this ROM is stable and works without bugs or issues. Anyway, it’s still unclear whether this will be the final version of Android 4.3 OS that will be OTA released by Samsung for the Note 2, or another improved variant of the software will be developed.

Don’t worry because even though you will update your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to official, though leaked, Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 firmware, you will still be able to receive the upcoming OTA software. The XXUEMJ5 OS is the official and stock Jelly Bean 4.3 system that is compatible with your phablet so you will have no issues when receiving further OTA releases of the Android platform – as you know, when running on a custom ROM, the official notifications can’t be received because your device is rooted, so a manual update operation is being required.

Because of the mentioned aspects, by completing this guide you will learn how to update your Galaxy Note 2 N7100 to official Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 firmware. Also, by doing so the warranty of your handset will not get void; actually, if currently your smartphone is rooted (the warranty gets void when you gain root access), now you will be able to revoke the root access, reset the flash counter which implies in restoring the lost warranty. Of course, above all, the default variant of Android 4.3 JB OS will be installed on your Note 2.

So, you will be receiving the stock and default features, apps, bug fixes, stability improvements and capabilities. We are talking about the latest features available on the Android system, so the best for you and for your device will be to apply the guidelines from below. As mentioned, if you do flash the present OS, root access will be revoked. Now, if you will want to re-root your phablet, then you will have to follow and apply a new and suitable root solution that can be applied for the XXUEMJ5 system – else you might end up in bricking your Galaxy Note 2.

The best is that we are dealing with an official firmware. Because of that and since we will apply the same on a Samsung branded handset, for this operation Odin will be required. As you might know, Odin is an official tool developed and offered by Samsung. So, completing this tutorial will not imply in using custom or risky apps or programs; your handset will be in safe hands and you will be done in just a couple of minutes.

Good, now since Odin can be installed only on a Windows based computer, for being able to update your Galaxy Note 2 to Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 OS, a notebook or PC based on Windows will be required. Also, your phablet and its USB cable must be somewhere near you because you will have to connect the phone with the PC. Usually, the connection can be properly made only if USB debugging is being enabled on the device; so before starting the steps from below, from “menu -> settings -> developer options” check the mentioned option.

In order to avoid the unpleasant situations, on your computer go and deactivate the security protections; usually the antivirus programs are interfering with the update procedure – don’t worry your computer will not be infected by worms or malware programs. It is extremely important to charge the battery of your smartphone especially if the battery status indicates less than 60% power left. If your Note 2 gets turned off in the middle of the update operation, you can brick your handset.

I strongly recommend you to backup the data that is saved on the internal storage memory of your device. Usually, it is unlikely to lose the data while using Odin; but in rare cases, after flashing the Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 firmware the Note 2 might get stuck in a boot loop. Well, for resolving the mentioned issues a wipe will be required which means that you can end up in losing all of your personal data, info and accounts. So, use suitable backup and restore apps from Google Play and save everything that is important to you.

Do note that this tutorial is compatible and should be completed only by those who own the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 model number N7100. The XXUEMJ5 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS has been leaked only on the mentioned phablet, so by flashing the same on a different device, you might damage the internal system of your handset.
