Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update For Samsung Galaxy S2 Released By Alltel
Great news for the Galaxy S2 owners who are subscribers at Alltel as they are finally receiving a software update that will bring their device up to date, to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
It’s a great week for Galaxy S2 owners in general. After Sprint released the Android Jelly Bean update for its Galaxy S2 version, the Epic 4G Touch, now its time for Allrel to do the same thing. This update is actually very interesting because until now the Alltel Galaxy S2 has been running Android 2.3.6 and you would think that the carrier would release the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update first. This is not the case because Alltel has skipped Ice Cream Sandwich and has prepared the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for their customers, which will be a significant change because moving from Android 2.3.6 directly to Android 4.1.2 is like using a totally different.
Alltel’s subscribers have been waiting for quite a while for a software upgrade, but it seems that it was all worth it as their Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphones will receive all the improvements and features that come along with the Jelly Bean iteration of Android. And we’re talking about Google now (a feature that enables users to get useful information from their devices using just their voice), Project Butter, which will significantly improve the phone’s performance and stability, a revamped notification system, and more.
Just like Sprint, Alltel mentions that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update file is too large and will have to be downloaded to a PC. In other words, the software update will unfortunately not be available over the air, and all the Galaxy S2 users will have to manually download the files to their PCs using the “Simple Upgrade Tool”. After that, the Galaxy S2 owners can update their smartphones following the instructions which are available HERE.
If you are an Alltel subscriber and own a Samsung Galaxy S2, tell us if you have managed to install the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update on your device in the comment section below.
