Even though there are many Android 4.1.1 based custom ROMs available and suitable for the Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 handsets we have to admit that when it comes to beta firmware there is never enough. And this is not only our opinion, as a new OS improvement has been developed and offered by those of xda-developers (we have to thanks them for the present tutorial). Therefore, we will be checking in how to install the Jelly Bean powered Romow Extreme custom ROM firmware on your Galaxy S3, all being explained during the steps from below.
You should update the Galaxy S3 with the mentioned ROM if you want to receive a new Android experience, as the Romow Extreme software is bringing many features that cannot be found in the default version of the Google platform. Furthermore, a new user interface will be added, along with capabilities that will optimize the OS of your phone, so that you can obtain more power, enjoy an improved battery life and “interact” easily with the internal system. Basically, all the unofficial ROMs are being designed to offer the same advantages the features being different from one update to another.
The Jelly Bean 4.1 Romow Extreme is a custom ROM meaning that it is not an official update released for your SGS3. By that you should understand that this is a risky operation that shouldn’t be completed by those who are not used with these types of tasks. Also, as we are not dealing with an OTA OS improvement, you will have to first prepare your smartphone for the installation procedure. You have all the info needed explained during the next lines, so don’t hesitate and check the same.
First of all, you must backup the SGS3 data. A wipe will be required so all of your personal info will be erased. That’s why I recommend you to use our backup and restore guides before heading to the proper steps. You can learn how to save the contacts, the text messages, the EFS, the internet settings, the call logs, the current ROM and more, so you have nothing to worry about. After taking care of the backup return here and resume the rest of the step by step guide.
The Galaxy S3 I9300 can’t be updated with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based Romow Extreme firmware unless its system was previously rooted and installed with a custom recovery image (such as CWM recovery). CWM recovery will be used for the wipe and flash process so it’s a must have. Then, by rooting the internal system of your SGS3 will be unchained. That means only one thing: the warranty will get void. For being able to regain the warranty you can anytime downgrade to the stock ROM, or wait for a new official update to be released by Samsung.
Then, you should know that a Windows running computer must be near you. Also you should have access to the S3 USB cord. Now, on your computer and phone deactivate the Firewall and antivirus protection. Enable the USB debugging option on your device or else you will not be able to properly connect it with the PC. If the battery status is showing less than 60% power, go and charge the battery first. Make sure you remember to backup, root and install CWM recovery on your SGS3. Don’t apply the Jelly Bean Romow Extreme if you own a similar device with the I9300 as you can end up in bricking your handset.
