After the Korean phone maker released the Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S4, now we hear that, just as promised, the Galaxy S3 is next in line to receive Android 4.3. As you probably know both the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 were running Android 4.1.2, as Samsung decided to skip the Android 4.2 update.
The Android 4.3 Premium Suite update for Samsung Galaxy S3 will bring most of the features that were introduced more than a half a year ago by the Galaxy S4, along with some of Galaxy Note 3’s functions. Besides the UI improvements, after updating the Galaxy S3 to Android 4.3 you will also get a revamped settings app with new tab-based interface. The sad news is that, for some reason, Samsung has kept the original launcher and widgets for the Galaxy S3.
Samsung didn’t release the official change log for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3, but the folks at Sammobile have had a closer look at the new firmware and managed to compile a list of “changes and improvements.” According to the aforementioned publication, the new firmware update “has’t implemented Samsung Knox yet,” but we might be able to see it in future builds.
Just like most software updates, Android 4.3 for Samsung Galaxy S3 will be rolled out in stages, so if you didn’t receive the system update notification yet, you would still have to wait a few more days. Of course, you can check for it manually by heading to Settings > About Phone > Software update and hit the check for updates button or grab the USB cable and connect the device to KIES.
According to Sammobile, the Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S3 will bring Galaxy Gear support, TRIM and ANT+ support, and the user interface elements of the Galaxy S4. The software update also packs the new Samsung Keyboard, Widgets for the Lockscreen, Daydream, Driving Mode, Adapt Display and Professional Photo, and Actionable Notifications.
After you update your Samsung Galaxy S3 to Android 4.3 you will get higher GPU benchmark scores courtesy of the updated GPU drives, move-to-SD-card support, Quick Settings in Notifications area, and a few of the new, improved Samsung Apps (Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Music). You will also get Galaxy S4’s enhanced S Voice app.
