Earlier this month, the Taiwan-based company released a press statement to confirm that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for HTC One X and HTC One S will roll out soon. At that time, the phone maker was announcing that HTC One S and HTC One X will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update “sometime in October,” and it seems that “sometime” is now. The HTC One X users in Taiwan and Singapore have reported that they received notifications for a software update and that Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+ was made available for their devices.
One of the users has provided the screen capture above that reveals that Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for HTC One X has software number 3.14.709.16. The user added that the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update package for HTC One X has a size of 353 MB.
Jelly Bean brings a faster and more fluid user interface on HTC One X, with quicker screen orientation reactions and improved command response times. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean also brings improvements in battery life and enhanced rendering for the elements on the display.
Other features brought by the HTC One X software update include the possibility of using certain WiFi SSIDs as mobile hotspots, more efficient face unlock, plus expandable notifications and Google Now.
HTC One X is a smartphone that packs a 4.7-inch HD display with Super IPS LCD2 technology and Gorilla Glass protection. The Android-powered smartphone was released in May 2012, weighs in 130 grams and it received positive reviews for its high-quality 8 megapixel camera, but the overheating problems and the display have made it a less desirable smartphone.
The design was also considered a strength of the world’s first quad-core smartphone, underpinned by an Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset based on four Cortex A9 cores at 1.5 GHz, plus ULP GeForce GPU and 1 GB of RAM. The because of the LTE limitations of the Tegra 3 SoC, the US variant comes with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor.
Summing up, if you own a HTC One X, expect the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update over the next few weeks. Please share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
