The official Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been released for all the Korean Samsung Galaxy Note 3 devices. If you don’t want to wait for the official firmware to arrive in your region over-the-air, then you can check the guidelines below and learn how to manually complete the update.
The new official Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware is being released in stages for all Korean Note 3 users on SK Telekom network. The update comes with Material Design UI, a more stable Android OS, and tons of extra small changes that should improve the overall performance of your phone.
Before starting the updating process you should check the guidelines below. You have to setup the Note 3 device for the updating process and to make sure that you will manage to complete the update at your first attempt.
Use this tutorial only with the Korean Samsung Galaxy Note 3 devices.
Your phone’s model number has to be SM – N900S. Check your phone’s version under Settings> About Phone.
Do not attempt to update any other devices with the files that you will find in this post.
Download the Samsung USB Drivers from here.
The USB drivers will allow you to connect your phone to your PC via Odin app.
Odin is a small program designed for advanced Samsung users who are looking to complete the Android 5.0 update manually.
For the Odin app to launch on your phone you will have to install the usb drivers above and to make sure that the Samsung KIES is not opened on your PC. So, if you have KIES installed on your PC, then you have to make sure that it is disabled, as it will attempt to block ODIN from opening.
If your phone is rooted, then you need to know that root access will be revoked completed. Also, any custom Recovery is going to be replaced with a stock Recovery image.
You can flash the new Android 5.0 update over a custom ROM, too. If you install the update over a custom ROM, then you have to know that a ‘factory reset’ process has to be applied after that. The factory reset steps are listed at the end of this tutorial and you shouldn’t skip them if you want for your phone to boot in normal mode.
Factory resetting the phone is going to remove the old custom ROM. No files will be deleted from the phone’s internal storage.
The ‘factory reset’ has to be applied only if you install the update over a custom ROM. If your device is sporting a 100% stock Android firmware, then you can continue straight to the next part of this post.
Use the tutorial steps only in case you are an advanced user, as we cannot be blamed in case you brick your phone nor in case you lose any data in the process.
Check the battery charge level of your phone and make sure that it is over 50%, as it will prevent your phone from switching off during the first boot process of Android 5.0 OS.
Read the whole tutorial and do not skip any steps. Since you’ve read all of the above you can continue to the next part of this post and learn how to successfully complete the update.

Also, make sure that your phone is properly detected by the PC, try to reinstall the usb drivers or to use a different usb cable. Use the comments field in case you need any extra help preparing your Note 3 device for the updating process.
