Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update for LG Optimus L7 and Optimus 4X HD Will Soon Be Available for Download

A couple of days ago, we told you that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update has started to roll out for the LG Optimus L9, the European version. Now, the company is getting ready to roll out the firmware upgrade to two more of its devices, namely to the LG Optimus 4X HD and Optimus L7.

LG Germany confirmed that the LG Optimus 4X HD and Optimus L7 will receive the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update by the end of March. However, not all the owners of the smartphones will receive the update in the same period of time, and the phone maker specifies that the owners of the LG Optimus 4X HD and Optimus L7 who have their handsets branded by a carrier will need to wait a little longer. In this case the update process takes a while longer as that certain carrier has to approve it first.

LG Germany has even posted the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean changelog on it blog. So, after the users of the LG Optimus 4X HD and Optimus L7 update their devices to Android 4.1.2, they will receive new features like project butter (allows a smoother usage), enhanced responsiveness, constant frame rate by Vertical Sync, improved notification system, Google Now, improved NFC thanks to Android Beam 2.0, WPS support, and more.

In case you own an LG Optimus 4X HD or an Optimus L7 and want to get the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, you must Utilize the LL Mobile Support Tool that will allow you to download and install the upgrade. Unfortunately, the update will not be available OTA.

Installing a software update on a smartphone can be tricky sometimes, and we recommend you to backup your date before starting the process. In case you haven’t done this before, you got all the instructions you need along with the full download on the LG Germany’s official blog.

You should expect that the Android 4.1.2 update for the your LG Optimus 4X HD or Optimus L7 to be available in any moment. You can check the blog from time to time. After you install the update, do tell us about in the comment section bellow.

will it be just for the P700 or will the P705 be included in the update?

    • Buzea Gabriel

i saw on the net that some still confuse the 2 phones so i myself don’t know since they only talk about the P700. LG didn’t mention the P705. they didn’t say no but they didn’t say yes either. we’ll see next month cause that’s when the update is supposedly released.

Yes they did, as soon as they announced the update coming out for the all the Optimus phones one of them said LG Optimus L7 P705

      • Rafael Luik

L7 from Germany is P700 (with NFC), from Hong Kong is P705 (no NFC). Both will receive the update to Jelly Bean.

I have the L7 P705 Still cant get the update w/out rooting my phone, anyone want to help?

          • Rafael Luik

There’s no need to root, look up tutorials for using a program called KDZ to flash the official LG firmwares, this might be the solution to get JB in your phone if LG’s PC Suite software isn’t delivering you the update.

I cannot update my L7. First, it says there’s an update available. Then, after a couple of clicks, it says there no update necessary.. Anyone with the same problem?

    • Sandris

Can’t confirm about L7, as for my country JB update is not yet rolled out, but I will check it later!
