The end of the month is near, so this is meaning that the official Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update will soon be release for the SGS3 devices. As usual, before the official launch of the firmware there are made available several upgrades which are being based on the default variant of the software and which can be applied by those who just can’t wait no more. That’s why recently we have showed you how to install the XXDLH4 ROM on your S3 but that’s still not all. Today, you will be able to learn how to update your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT I9300 to the latest version of Jelly Bean OS, the XXDLH6 firmware.
Remember that this is not the official update released by Samsung for the S3, so the final ROM can come on a different name. Therefore you will not be able to OTA apply the software nor you can use the KIES for the same. The only way possible for installing the upgrade will be by following this manual method. You have it all explained during the present step by step guide so you have nothing to worry about. Furthermore, you should know that the XXDLH6 OS is being suitable only for the international model of the SGS3; don’t try to use the ROM on other versions of the mentioned smartphone as you will brick its system.
Even though this is said to be the most stable version of the Jelly Bean platform, don’t rely on this due to the fact that it’s not yet official. So, there might be issues in the system or things that aren’t working properly. Of course you will remove the same as soon as you will make the OTA update (probably from August 29th). This is the only aspect that you must be aware of, as for being able to apply the present tutorial you don’t have to previously root your handset. Also, if it was rooted before, after updating to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 you will have to re-root the SGS3 as the root access will be revoked. This is meaning one thing only: by flashing the XXDLH6 ROM you will not void the phone warranty, so you have nothing to worry about.
Anyway, the manual installation method implies in using Odin. We will use this tool for applying the software on your smartphone, the steps being explained below. Odin can be easily used and works almost every time. As this is a manual way of flashing an update it is recommended to backup the data which is saved on the internal memory of your device. You can use our suitable backup guides for this (by checking the how to section) or you can use a computer or SD card for saving different files from your phone, sync with your Google account for saving the contacts, go to Google Play and download backup and restore apps, or use a custom recovery image for succeeding with this operation.
Beside the backup you should also ensure that you have access to a Windows running computer with Internet connection enabled, to your SGS3 and to its USB cable. Then, remove the security restrictions, like antivirus programs or Firewall protection, from your phone and from the computer as these tools can interrupt the installation procedure. Furthermore, you will have to connect your device with the PC so enable the USB debugging option for its settings. Finally, the handset must have enough battery life for staying open through the whole process. If there is less than 60% power left go and charge the battery first. Remember that you don’t have to previously root the smartphone for applying the update on it and you should also follow and complete this tutorial only for the international model of the Samsung Galaxy S3.
