Android 4.3 OTA Update for Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Edition Now Rolling Out

Update Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE and HTC One GPE to Android 4.3

After in late July the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update debuted along with the New Nexus 7 tablet, the new software update was also made available for the other members of the Nexus family, including Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10.

As you probably know, both Samsung and HTC introduced variants of their flagship smartphones running stock Android, the Galaxy S4 Google Edition and the HTC One Google Edition, respectively. Now we hear that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has started to roll out for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition and HTC One Google Edition. Fortunately, the new firmware update will be also made available for the standard HTC One and Galaxy S4 models, soon.

The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition and HTC One Google Edition is rolling out OTA and since the update is sized 150.7 MB on the Galaxy S4 and 185.5 MB on the One you might want to download it through a WiFi hotspot.

After you update your Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition and HTC One Google Edition to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean you will be able to enjoy support for OpenGL ES 3.0 for enhanced 3D graphics, T9 autocomplete for dial pad, a revised camera app interface, support for Bluetooth Low Energy, and improved notifications.

I remind you that both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition and the HTC One Google Edition are available for purchase through Google’s Play Store in the US region.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition packs a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection, while being underpinned by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chispet with four Krait 300 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz and Adreno 320 GPU. The smartphone also comes with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and support for microSD cards.

The Galaxy S4 GPE also sports a 13 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, image stabilization, and full HD video recording, while the front-facing camera is a 2 megapixel unit, also capable of 1080p video capture. The connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, HSPA+, and 4G LTE.

On the other hand the HTC One Google Edition has a 4.7-inch full HD display with a Super LCD3 and Gorilla Glass 2 coating. The processing unit powering the HTC One is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 SoC with a quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. The HTC One GPE technical specifications list also include 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.

The camera unit mounted on the back of the HTC One Google Edition has a 4 megapixel UltraPixel sensor with 1/3” sensor size, 2µm pixel size and full HD video recording capabilities. The front panel of the handset accommodates a 2.1 megapixel camera (full HD video recording compatible) and dual stereo speakers. In terms of connectivity, the HTC One Google Edition brings NFC, HSPA+, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth Low Energy.

Even though you haven’t received the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update notification on your Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition or HTC One Google Edition, it’s worth checking for it manually. In order to do so you will have to go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates then hit the Check Now button and follow the on-screen instructions.

Still haven’t received the update on my S4. I’m running my GES4 on the Chicago T-Mobile network. I’ve tried the old “Google Services Framework” trick a few times and still nothing. Any other T-Mobile peeps that are in the same boat?
