ZTE Warp Sequent is an interesting Android based device, as the phone comes with decent specs and features and all on an affordable price tag. Anyway, we surely can’t compare the Warp Sequent with the high end smartphones, but there’s nothing wrong is saying that it is a “friendly” handset, especially for the entry level customers. If you own this phone, now you will be able to power up its performances as a suitable version of the CM10 custom ROM has been made available; therefore, during the present step by step guide I will show you how to update the ZTE Warp Sequent to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS by installing the CM10 custom firmware.
Before starting the update procedure, you should know that this is only the beta version of the CM10 software, so there are still some minor bugs and issues included on the platform. Don’t worry though as the devs are working on resolving the problems and further updates will be offered for your ZTE Warp Sequent. So, it should be clear for you that you are dealing with an unofficial firmware that has nothing to do with ZTE or Google, the CM10 system being a free aftermarket distribution of the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS.
The best is that CM10 comes with important features, apps and capabilities that cannot be found in the default version of the Android software. So, by flashing the ROM on your Warp Sequent you will be able to power up the performances of your device as the internal system will be optimized and customized. Furthermore, you will have access to the inbuilt programs and to the default settings meaning that you can change, remove or add apps and tools by yourselves. In this way you can free the RAM memory, upgrade the battery life, change the looks and improve the Jelly Bean experience that runs on your ZTE Warp Sequent.
As you can see flashing CM10 on your Warp Sequent is a must have especially if you want to obtain more from your phone. If so, then complete this tutorial by resuming the following lines; first we will be checking on how to prepare your handset for the updating operation and then I will explain the proper installation procedure.
The first to begin with is the root aspect. Being a custom ROM, the CM10 software can’t be installed on a locked ZTE Warp Sequent. So, before going any further root your phone. Be aware though as by gaining root access the warranty will get void and for restoring the same you will have to downgrade to stock ICS firmware.
Up next you need to install a custom recovery image, like CWM recovery, as the stock recovery that comes pre-installed on all the Android powered handsets can’t be used when trying to update with a custom ROM. Also, take note as the custom recovery can be flashed only on rooted systems.
Another task that must be completed before starting to install the CM10 OS on your ZTE Warp Sequent is the backup. As you will see during the steps from below a wipe will be required meaning that you will lose all of your personal info and data. For avoiding this you need to complete a full backup and save the contacts, messages, call logs, market apps, internet settings, calendar info and everything else you need to. I recommend you to make a Nandroid backup too because in this way you can save even the current firmware that runs on your Warp Sequent.
Finally you need to ensure that: you can access a computer with internet connection enabled; your phone and its USB cable are near you; the USB debugging option is enabled on your device; all the security options and programs are deactivated or uninstalled on both computer and smartphone (these tools might interfere with the flashing operation); your phone has enough battery power left – at least 60%, else charge the battery (if not your device might get turned off while you are trying to flash the CM10 software).

Then return and resume the rest of the lines; be careful though as this tutorial is compatible only with the ZTE Warp Sequent so don’t apply the next steps if you own a different Android based device as you will risk in bricking your phone.
