Verizon HTC Droid DNA Tutorials for Unlocking Bootloader, Installing CWM Recovery and Root are now available
The HTC Droid DNA is not even launched but the guys at XDA are already working to deliver all the tools required for power users to unlock the device’s bootloader, install CWM Recovery and get root access.
The release of all these guides and tools for the Verizon HTC Droid DNA mean that you can easily apply all the changes and get even a custom ROM on the shipping day. All of them have been released by an XDA recognized developer with the ‘dsb9938′ username and at the end of this article you can find all the tutorial links you need.
Unlocking the bootloader of your phone will allow you to install a custom recovery. The custom recovery is a ClockworkMod variant and you can install it and then use it to root the phone. Also, only after you manage to root the HTC Droid DNA, you will be able to flash custom ROMs, new kernels and other files that should allow you to improve / enhance the overall performance of your smartphone.
As you know, the Droid DNA has been made by HTC but the carrier is Verizon, which means for many users that the ‘bootloader unlocking’ process wouldn’t be released so soon, as Verizon tends to avoid such releases for the general public. However, it seems like you can unlock the bootloader of this phone using the HTCdev web page and after that you can easily flash a CWM Recovery image using only the Fastboot files.
These were all guides that should’ve been released after the official launch of the Droid DNA smartphone, but it seems like the guys at XDA and all other Android developers are working 24/7 in order to offer new and better ways for users to improve their devices. Now, if you want to unlock the bootloader of your Droid DNA, install CWM Recovery and then root it, then you should follow the steps listed in the tutorial below:
