VS98012B OTA Update Rolling out for Verizon LG G2, It’s Not Android 4.4
The Verizon variant of the LG G2 is now receiving a software update labeled VS9801B, but, unfortunately, it’s not an Android 4.4 KitKat build.
As you probably know (or not), the LG G2 is expected to receive the incremental Android 4.4 KitKat update by the end of the month. Anyway, don’t get your hopes up, only the Korean models will be updated to KitKat this month. As for the other models, it seems that the Android 4.4 update will roll out for them in January 2014, including for the US models.
As about the VS9801B update for Verizon LG G2, hear that it’s pushed to the users over the air, and, as usual, it’s a staged roll out, therefore you might not be able to download it on your device right away. In case the system update message didn’t show up in the notification area of your G2, you know the drill: navigate to Settings > About phone > System update > Check now, and perform a manual check. If this doesn’t work either it could mean that you will have to wait a couple more days.
According to the official changelog posted on Verizon’s support webpage, the VS9801B OTA update for Verzion LG G2 brings, a couple of UI tweaks, a new Verizon-specific app, and one less piece of LG bloatware.
Besides the aforementioned changes and improvements the VS9801B OTA update for Verzion LG G2 also comes with improved video playback quality when viewing on websites, reduced Device lockups, QSlide support for Messaging, and improved voice quality.
You will also notice that the Verizon Cloud app is now pre-loaded and that Viewdini app has been removed, that Backup Assistant Plus resumes syncing after completing a voice call and that TalkBack reads each deleted letter when using Messaging Keyboard. Furthermore, dialing *611 will now appear on device screen and Google Security Patch has been added.
The LG G2 sports an impressive 5.2-inch full HD True HD-IPS + LCD screen, 13 MP camera with 1080p@60fps video recording, LTE, WiFi, NFC, IR blaster, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0. The smartphone also comes with 2 GB RAM, 16/32 GB storage, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor with quad-core 2.26 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. A non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery is keeping the lights on.
Hey, Verizon LG G2 owners, did you receive the VS9801B OTA update on your devices?
