After teasing it for quite some time, Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi 4A smartphone in India at an affordable pricing. The new Xiaomi phone will be exclusively up for sale on Amazon.in and Mi.com from March 23, retailing at Rs. 5,999.
Coming on to the specifications, the Redmi 4A comes with a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. The phone houses 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone features a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, PDAF, and f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP front-facing camera.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A is a Hybrid Dual-SIM (microSD/SIM + SIM slot) smartphone with 3120 mAh of battery. It supports 4G VoLTE, IR Blaster, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GLONASS, and GPS. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 skin on top. The phone will be available in Gray, Gold and Rose Gold color options. Unlike other variants, the Rose Gold variant will be up for sale from April 6.
At the launch event, Xiaomi also claimed that the Redmi 4A is by far the highest selling smartphone in its huge product list. The phone made up 30 percent market share of Xiaomi. Also, the company is setting up another manufacturing unit at Sricity in Andhra Pradesh. The new manufacturing plant will be under Foxconn and is already claimed to bear a production capacity of one smartphone per second when it goes fully functional. Besides, Xiaomi also shared that in India, it has sold whopping 1 million units of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in India.
To recap, the Redmi 4A was launched at CNY 499 (around Rs. 5,000) in November 2016 in China. With its official launch in India now, it looks like Xiaomi is trying to keep a similar price point in both the countries. What’s your take on the new offering by Xiaomi – the Redmi 4A
