Even though the Nexus line-up, the Google Play Edition devices, and a few other smartphones already received the Android 4.4 KitKat update, there are still a lot of terminals that are still waiting to get updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Earlier this year, Sony promised that it will bring Android 4.3 to its high-end Xperia devices by the end of the year and it looks like the Japanese company is keeping its word, as the Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and Xperia Tablet Z are now getting updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Besides the buttery smoother Project Butter performance and UI optimizations, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and Xperia Tablet Z is also bringing some Sony-specific features like the Sony Smart Social camera that debuted on the Xperia Z1, Sony's Media apps (WALKMAN, Album and Movies, with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service integration), Xperia Themes with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select, Xperia in Business, improved Battery Stamina Mode, and user profiles for the Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
The new software update will also bring the native Sony apps to the latest version, including Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, and Sony Select apps.
As usual, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OTA update for Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and Xperia Tablet Z is being rolled out in phases, therefore you might not be able to download and install it on your device right away. If you didn't receive the system update notification you can also check for the Android 4.3 update software manually in Settings > About phone/tablet > System update > Check for updates.
Are there any Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, or Xperia Tablet Z owners among you? Did you guys receive the Android 4.3 update? Did you notice any improvements aside of the ones mentioned above? Please let us know in comments.
