Samsung has promised us that we'll get Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates for their flagship devices and now it's the time for the Galaxy S3. According to some leaks it seems like the Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 will received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in April or May, which means we are one or two months away from it.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat comes with a lot of new features, along with an increased speed, and some enhancements. Samsung smartphones like the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 have already been updated, but it usually takes longer for older devices.
Google has released KitKat last year and Galaxy S3 users have had to wait almost six months for the update, which we hope it will come when the leak specifies.
If you don't know what new features Android 4.4.2 KitKat comes with, then read along, because we'll let you know everything you need to know.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Features
While it doesn't look so, Android 4.4.2 KitKat has been improved significantly and it's much faster than Jelly Bean. We've seen improvements on all smartphones that have been updated from Jelly Bean to KitKat.
KitKat comes with features like Location Settings, album art and camera button on the lockscreen, Default Apps setting, unified Hangouts messaging and a slightly revamped user interface.
The location settings allow you to enable or disable specific location detection features and it lets you know how much battery each one of them uses. When you listen to music, you can now see the album art on the lockscreen, where there's also a camera button so you can take photos faster, without even unlocking the Galaxy S3.
Hangouts can now send SMS and MMS, which means you won't have to use the stock messaging app anymore. If you were already using Hangouts for instant messaging, video calls or just to send files, then you can also use it as your default SMS and MMS app.
Like we told you already, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should be released for the Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 in April or May. We will let you know once it's official, so you can install it on your device.
