The Android 4.4.3 KitKat update changelog has been leaked and it brings evidence about two Google devices codenamed Molly and Flounder. It seems like Flounder is the next Google Nexus 8 that we've been talking about lately.
Thanks to Myce, we have information about Flounder and the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update. The update should start rolling out by the end of this month, while we aren't very sure when the company is planning to release the Nexus 8, but we believe they might do it at Google I/O.
The Nexus 8 might be built by HTC, according to latest sources and rumors. You can view the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update changelog in the screenshots below to better understand what it comes with.
We expect Android 4.4.3 to roll out only on Nexus and Google Play Edition devices this month, while it should reach all Android 4.4.2 running smartphones in the following months. Yesterday we told you that Samsung is already testing the 4.4.3 update for a bunch of their devices, including the Galaxy S5, S4, S3, Note 3, Note 2 and more.
We will have to wait and see if Google is actually planning to release the new Nexus 8 at I/O, this year. We were expecting an all-new Android version to be released then too, but it's possible to delay the new update until the next I/O. Anyway we are pretty sure that Google will release Android 4.5 or 5.0 by the end of the year. The company usually releases two Android version each year, one in June or July and the other one in September or October.
It seems like Molly will be a Google TV with a new user interface called AndroidAtHome, so it's not a new tablet or smartphone, as people have been expecting.
Now we will have to see what tablet is the Nexus 8 going to replace. We think they will ditch the Google Nexus 10 and release the Nexus 7 2014 and the Nexus 8 this year only.
