Last year ASUS released the ZenFone 2 smartphones which turned out to be quite appealing to plenty of customers. The Taiwanese manufacturer launches a few devices with that designation, the first ones being introduced during the CES 2015 which took place in Las Vegas. What was interesting back then is that one of the ZenFone 2 models came with 4 GB of RAM, being the very first phone with that kind of RAM. Returning to the present day, ASUS has already confirmed that it’s going to hold a press event for the official launch of its next premium device called ZenFone 3 on May 30th. Apart from this, the company has release various teasers to market the device. In addition, we’ve seen lots of rumors and leaks regarding the phone, and it was even spotted in benchmarks.
In case you are not familiar with the matter, one of the models of the ASUS ZenFone 3 was rumored to come with 6 GB of RAM, following some Chinese handsets that has been already launched and sport this amount of memory. It looks like the rumors were actually accurate because according to one of the company’s teasers, the smartphone will indeed include 6 GB of RAM. As you can observe in the teaser image above the article, there is a big number six, which we can safely assume that it hints at the amount of RAM the device will be sporting. The teaser also comes along with some leaked information according to which the company is preparing models with both 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. In total, it is expected that the manufacturer will launch three different variants of the smartphone, called ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Max. Remember, this is just a rumor and the news has not been officially confirmed, so we advise you that you take it with a little dose of skepticism.
As far as specs are concerned, we’ve encountered a lot of reports suggesting that the ZenFone 3 will come with hardware worthy of a premium handset. To be more specific, the phone will allegedly boast a Full HD screen with a diagonal of 5.5 inches and a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080. As mentioned the company will implement 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM and the device will have multiple internal storage options. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe is said to include 128 GB or even 256 GB of native storage, while the standard version will likely have 32 GB or 64 GB of no-board storage. The smartphone will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm made Snapdragon 820 chipset. Also, one of the company’s teasers suggested that the ASUS ZenFone 3 might have a 23 MP camera on its back side. Moreover, the terminal is expected to have a metal casing.
As far as pricing goes, there is still no information regarding this matter. However, if we think about its predecessor, the ZenFone 2, the company’s last year flagship was pretty budget-friendly if we compare it with smartphones that featured similar specs. In other words, it is expected that the ZenFone 3 will come as a more affordable option for people who want to buy a premium device. Availability-wise, we’ll have to wait until the ASUS execs will provide us with the information. The launching event will be held on May 30th, but we don’t expect the manufacturer to share the availability details during the event. Usually these details are provided a while after the announcement itself. If you want more information regarding the ASUS ZenFone 3, stick around.
