A new HTC One M8 Android 4.4.2 OTA update is now being pushed to AT&T users, bringing the highly-anticipated Extreme Power Saving Model. As you may know, when the HTC One M8 was officially unveiled, the company's officials promised that the new flagship smartphone will receive the Extreme Power Saving Mode feature through a later software update. Now the new feature is rolling out for the AT&T HTC One M8 owners, about a month after the same feature was rolled out for Sprint.
It's also worth mentioning that the HTC One M8 units sold on the European market came pre-loaded with the Extreme Power Saving Mode feature. What's Extreme Power Saving Mode? Well, once you'll enable it your One M8 will only lose 1% of life every three hours, allowing your device to run 40% longer according to HTC. A similar feature is also present on HTC One M8's main rival, the Galaxy S5, being called Ultra Power Saving Mode, allowing the Samsung flagship to run for 24 hours with only 10% battery left.
The new HTC One M8 Android 4.4.2 OTA update also comes with a fix for the bug that was preventing users to enable the free 50 GB of Google Drive cloud storage and adds more effects for the smartphone's camera.
As usual, the new Android 4.4.2 OTA update for AT&T HTC One M8 is being rolled out in stages, meaning that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. As you may know, once your HTC One M8 becomes eligible to receive the new software, you should see a system update message popping out in the notification area. Tap on it an follow the on-screen instructions. Alternatively, you can perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.
