First Live Images of The Huawei Nexus 6 Have Been Leaked Online

Unlike the LG Nexus 5 2015, live images of the Huawei Nexus 6 hadn’t leaked on the web, until now. Multiple live images of the device have been leaked online today, giving us our first glimpse at the design of the phablet in the flesh. The images of the Huawei Nexus device have been posted on Google+ by user Tiesen Fu. Fu claims to have received the images from a friend.

The overall design of the Huawei Nexus appears to be identical to the leaked renders published by uSwitch and leakster @OnLeaks recently. The rear mounted fingerprint scanner of the device is clearly visible in the image of the back, and so is the hump near the top of the device, similar to what we have usually seen In Nokia PureView devices in the past. However, in case of the Huawei Nexus, the camera hump isn’t quite as significant though.

On the front of the device, the main highlights are the speaker grilles on the top and bottom for the stereo speakers. The LG made Nexus 5 2015 also features similar speaker grilles on the top and bottom bezel. If you have seen the leaked images of the Nexus 5 2015 recently, you will be aware of the fact that the two Nexus devices share more in common than just the speaker grilles on the front. The rear mounted fingerprint scanner is also another similarity between the two 2015 Nexus devices. So far we have seen that manufacturers have embedded the fingerprint scanner on the physical home button on the front of the device, so it remains to be seen how users will react to the positioning of the fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. Of course, having the fingerprint scanner at the rear allows manufacturers to avoid including a physical home button on the front, so that’s definitely an advantage. As we can see in the images leaked today, the front appears quite clean overall.

Both Nexus smartphones for this year will also feature a USB Type-C port at the bottom. Sadly, none of the images leaked today show the bottom of the device, so we do not get to see the USB Type-C port on the Huawei Nexus.

Judging from the leaked images, it appears the Huawei Nexus will indeed feature a full metal construction as had been rumored earlier. The device will feature a 5.7-inch Quad HD resolution display and measure 159.4 x 78.3 x 6.6/8.5mm. As we told you earlier, the device has a slight camera bump, which is where it will measure 8.5mm. The rest of the body will be 6.6mm thin. As far as other specs go, we have not seen any concrete info surface so far but rumors did talk of the phablet being powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset. Since Qualcomm recently announced that the Snapdragon 820 will only arrive by 1H 2016, it makes us think the Snapdragon 810 is more likely to power the Huawei Nexus 6. On the software side of things, the highlight will of course be Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box as the Huawei Nexus will be among the first devices to ship with the very latest version of Android. Just like last year, we expect all the 2015 Nexus devices to go official in October.
