There is a new unofficial CM 13 custom ROM build ready for installation on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7105 LTE smartphones. Use this tutorial if you want to learn how to flash such custom ROM on your device.
This custom ROM is based on other CM 13 Android 6.0.1 builds, but since it isn’t fully supported by the CyanogenMod team, then it is an unofficial release done by PoisonNinja, a popular Custom ROM developer within the XDA community. It seems like this build is a stable one and all important things are fully functional such as: RIL, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Graphics, Sensors, Camera, Video Playback, NFC, Doze, GPS, Audio, vibration, and more.
NOTE: there are some issues and bugs with the Wi-Fi when roaming, as it disconnects some times. Also, the camera might give a ‘force close’ error randomly, but a quick reboot should fix that. Before starting the installation of this new custom ROM you should check the guidelines below, as you will learn how to prepare the Note 2 N7105 phone for the installation.
This tutorial will work only for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE N7105 models.
Check the model number of your phone under Settings> About Phone menu.
Don’t try to use this tutorial with any other different devices.
Your phone has to be on a rooted firmware and it should be running a custom Recovery like CWM or TWRP.
The installed custom Recovery has to be based on either CWM or TWRP Recoveries. Also, make sure that you’ve updated the custom Recovery to its latest version, so that it supports the latest Android 6.0.1 custom ROM installations.
In the tutorial part of this post you will find two extra preparation steps like NANDROID Backup and the Factory Reset ones. Do not skip those steps as they are essential in completing the Unofficial CM 13 flashing process.
The NANDROID Backup saves the entire installed ROM, and it can be used in case your device doesn’t boot in normal mode with the newly installed CM 13 ROM.
The Factory Reset removes the old ROM and allows the new CM 13 Unofficial build to boot successfully after the installation is done.
Factory Resetting the device is going to remove all data from system partition, but it won’t delete any files from its internal storage.
In case you want to backup any data files from applications that are installed on your Galaxy Note 2 device, then you can try the Helium tool for Android.
The contacts and people details can be synced with your default Gmail account.
Make sure that the USB Debugging option is enabled in Developer Options.
Read the whole tutorial and do not skip any steps.
Check battery charge level and make sure that there is at least 50% left before the device discharges completely.
This tutorial has to be used by advanced users only, we cannot be held responsible in case you brick the phone nor in case you lose any important data in the process.
How to flash Unofficial CM 13 Android 6.0.1 ROM for Galaxy Note 2 N7105 LTE:
Download the Unofficial CM 13 zip file from here.
Download Gapps for CM 13/ Android 6.0 ROMs from here.
Transfer both zip files to your phone’s internal storage, after the files are downloaded completely.
Do not unzip the archived files.
Disconnect the phone from PC when all files are copied.
Now you can power off the Galaxy Note 2.
First you need to create the NANDROID Backup for the ROM that’s already installed on your Note 2. It will act as a restore point.
For CWM Recovery select ‘backup and restore’.
For TWRP Recovery select ‘backup’ option.
Now, factory reset the Note 2:
For CWM select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’.
For TWRP select ‘wipe’.
Confirm factory reset.
Next, start the Unofficial CM 13 Android 6.0.1 installation:
For CWM select the ‘install zip from sdcard’, then ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
For TWRP select ‘install’ option.
Find the CM 13 zip file and confirm the installation.
Don’t press anything until the flashing process is done.
When the custom ROM is done installing on your device you should flash the Gapps zip too.
After all files are done installing you can reboot the phone in normal mode.
Note that the first boot process will take a while before it loads all files.
Use your default Google Account in order to regain complete control over your smartphone once again.
These were the steps that you had to follow in order to flash the CM 13 Unofficial Android 6.0.1 ROM for your Galaxy Note 2 N7105.
In case the first boot process of this new CM13 ROM is unable to complete and your Galaxy Note 2 LTE device freezes or it enters in a boot loop, then you will be forced to try and repeat installation.
If you repeat the CM 13 Unofficial ROM flashing process, then make sure that your phone meets all requirements and that you won’t be skipping any steps listed above the tutorial.
If you need more help completing the installation, then you should tell us in comments.
