The Samsung Galaxy S10 allows users to remap their Bixby button. In this tutorial you can learn how to change the function attributed to Bixby easily.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 allows its users to change the Bixby button's function and use it for something else. You can set Bixby button to launch one of your favorite and most used apps, you can set it to open contacts, or your Gmail main account, the Camera for fast snapshots, or you can set it to launch the Calculator. However, you won't be able to set it to launch Google Assistant, nor Amazon's Alexa voice assistant, which means that in case you want to use the Voice assistant by pressing the button, then you will be stuck with Bixby.

With the launch of Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung has added a new function called Bixby Key Customization. Without it you wouldn't be able to remap Bixby. Now you will be able to launch it by pressing the Bixby button once or twice.

How to Remap the Samsung Galaxy S10 Bixby Button

Remapping Bixby is not that hard, but you should know that you can set it to launch only a few preset functions. Here's how to remap Bixby for the Galaxy S10:

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Go to Advanced Features.
  3. Tap on the "Bixby key" option.
  4. Select the "double press to open Bixby".
  5. Now select "use single press" option.
  6. Tap the Settings button and choose the application you wish to launch when pressing Bixby.

Please note that Samsung doesn't allow users to set the Google Assistant or Alexa to their Bixby button. You will be allowed to set Bixby to launch Camera, Contacts, Gmail, Google Duo, Instagram, Facebook, Calculator and other apps except for voice assistants.

How to disable Samsung Galaxy S10 Bixby home page and button:

The Bixby button cannot be disabled completely, but there is a workaround that should prevent you from accidentally launching it.

The first thing that you need to do is to disable the Bixby Home screen completely. Here's how to do it:

  • go to your Galaxy S10 home screen.
  • long press on the home page empty space.
  • find the Bixby Home screen.
  • disable the toggle shown above the Bixby screen.

Now the Bixby Home menu will not pop-up anymore, and now you will have to change the Bixby button settings, so that it will make it harder to launch Bixby by accident. Here's how to do that:

  • go to the Settings menu.
  • open Advanced Features.
  • tap once on the Bixby Key option.
  • the "single press to open Bixby" option should be active and you need to tap twice on the other "double press to open Bixby" option in order to activate it.

From now on you will have to press twice to open Bixby on your Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone. In case you wish to revert this settings you simply need to follow the above steps and do the opposite of what they're saying and you're done.
