Rumor has it that Samsung Galaxy S4 will boast a 5-inch display, placing it pretty close to Galaxy Note 2's 5.5-inch touch panel. Well, Huawei plans to get the phablet size to a new level with the Ascend Mate model, packing a gigantic 6.1-inch display.
We know about the existence of the new Huawei terminal for a while now, and the first rumors were pointing that it will pack an 8+ inch display. It seems that it's a 6.1-inch phablet after all, and today we present you the terminal in flash, caught in action in the video below.
Huawei Ascend Mate was supposed to be unveiled at CES 2013, on January 8th, but an official of the China-based phone maker spoiled the surprise. The smartphone was filmed in the hands of Richard You, a Huawei employee, who demoed the new phablet in front of several Huawei fans at a Chinese store.
Rumor has it that Huawei Ascend Mate will arrive boasting a quad-core HiSilicon K3V3 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz and developed internally by Huawei. Reports claim that the 6.1-inch phablet will have a 4,000 mAh battery and a profile of 9.9 mm.
The product will have a competitive price of around $500, the same Huawei official in the video below wrote on Sian Weibo (a Chinese social network) that the specifications of the final version of Ascend Mate might be a bit different in the final product.
It seems that the 6.1-inch display will make use of LTPS (Low Temperature Poly Silicone) technology. Huawei Ascend Mate will be one of the important debutants of the CES 2013 or MWC 2013 events, together with Ascend W1 and Ascend D2.
