This is the first Nightly build of CyanogenMod 12 that is available for the Google Nexus 4. Use this post in order to learn how to successfully install the custom ROM on your smartphone.

The CM 12 Nightly ROM builds are based on AOSP Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Check this post here or here for more info on this release. Before starting the installation process you will need to read the guidelines below:

  • use this post only with the Google Nexus 4 device.
    - do not try to flash the files that you will find in this post on any other Android devices.
  • your Nexus 4 device has to be rooted and running an updated version of CWM or TWRP custom Recovery.
    - the CWM / TWRP custom Recovery that you will use needs to support Android 5.0 Lollipop ROMs.
  • in the 'how-to' part of this article you will find two extra steps, NANDROID ROM Backup and Factory Reset, that you should apply before starting the CM 12 Nightly installation process.
    - do not skip these steps.
    - the NANDROID ROM Backup sets a restore point for your phone, one that you can use in case the new CM12 Nightly ROM doesn't boot in normal mode.
    - 'factory reset' has to be applied in order to remove all the data that is stored on the memory partition.
    - 'factory reset' doesn't wipe any data from the internal storage.
  • check the battery charge level and make sure that it is over 50%, it will prevent the device from powering down during installation.
  • this guide is for advanced users, do not blame us in case you brick the phone nor in case you end up losing any data files in the files.
    - read the entire post and do not skip any steps if you wish to complete the installation at your first attempt.

Note that you can flash Official CM 12 Nightly ROM over previous CM 11 Nightly or CM 11 M-Snapshot official builds without applying the 'factory reset'.
