A new version of Resurrection Remix was officially released and the same firmware was also successfully compiled on the Samsung Galaxy A5 2015. Thus, shortly, you now have a new update opportunity available for your device, and everything thanks to those of xda-developers. This update software is based on Android 7.1 Nougat which means that if you choose to resume the lines from below you can now test and enjoy the latest stable release of Android OS, right on your own Galaxy A5.
This is the official built of Resurrection Remix, so the Android 7.1 Nougat firmware is fully stable and functional. The ROM will smoothly run on your Samsung Galaxy A5 2015 and you will be able to apply further tweaks for customizing and optimizing other Android capabilities. Depending on your own preferences you can choose to personalize the Resurrection Remix system for bumping speeds, upgrading the battery life, obtaining a clean and light software and so on.
Therefore, Resurrection Remix can be easily modified as there are built-in options that can be used in that respect. The devs added features, apps and capabilities which cannot be found on the default Android 7.1 Nougat OS. These extra features can ensure a smooth and fast Nougat OS regardless of what operations and processes you will choose to initiate on your Samsung Galaxy A5 2015.
Of course, Resurrection Remix is a custom ROM developed by third party devs. So, it cannot be associated with Samsung or with Google. Shortly, this isn’t an official Android 7.1 Nougat update package but a ported version of the same. That’s why this Nougat features OS cannot be received in form of a new OTA notification. Also, that’s why you can complete this update process only by following a manual process – an unofficial firmware cannot be automatically received and applied on your Galaxy A5.
Because of that, during the flashing process that’s explained below, Samsung KNOX will get tripped. Unfortunately, the warranty of your Samsung Galaxy A5 2015 will get void once you begin the Resurrection Remix installation process. You will be able to restore the warranty only by reinstalling the official Android software – for being able to do so you will have to use Odin.
Your Samsung Galaxy A5 2015 must be rooted. The Android 7.1 Nougat custom ROM will have to access, modify and customize built-in features, apps and processes so full access towards the stock Android OS must be ensured before anything else (and that can be achieved with the root operation).
A custom recovery image must be running on your phone – the flashing process explained during this tutorial can be successfully completed only if a custom recovery image, such as TWRP recovery, can be used.
Make a Nandroid backup before starting the update operation described below. The Nandroid backup process will save the current Android OS that run on your Samsung Galaxy A5. If the Resurrection Remix firmware will not run as you expected, you will be able to use the Nandroid backup package in order to go back to stock without experiencing further problems.
A general backup for saving personal data, info, accounts and other similar files must be considered too. The Android 7.1 Nougat custom software can be installed above the stock Android firmware only if a wipe is first applied. In a few words, you will have to initiate a hard reset and to clear app data cache. Well, those operations will wipe everything that wasn’t there from day one – contacts, call logs, texts, images, videos, audio files, market apps, internet settings, calendar info, saved passwords, EFS folder, IMEI / NVRAM data and so on. Good; thus, initiate a backup: sync your files with your Google Account, use Samsung’s own cloud storage alternatives or just download backup and restore apps from Google Play.
As already outlined, this is going to be a manual update operation. So, a computer is required – the computer will be used only for downloading the files which will be then flashed on your smartphone. On your Galaxy A5 go to Settings – > About Phone and start tapping on Built Number – tap on this field until you receive the ‘you are a developer’ message. Then, from Menu – > Settings – > Developer Options check the USB Debugging field.
Charge your handset if its power is lower than 50%. If your phone will remain without juice while you try to resume the update process, you can end up in experience different soft related issues. So, if you don’t want to soft-brick your A5, plug in the charger before doing anything else.
Of course, keep in mind that the Resurrection Remix based on Android 7.1 Nougat OS is compatible only with the 2015 model of Samsung Galaxy A5 – try not to mess things up by using this tutorial for any other similar or different Android based device.
