Meizu may not be in the top three phone makers in China, but its definitely a respectable company that has released several interesting devices overs the past few years. The manufacturer is preparing to launch the Meizu Pro 6s in the near future, and while we are waiting for that to happen, let's talk about the Meizu M5, which was announced earlier today. We knew that the company will hold a press event on October 31st, and this happened earlier today.

The Meizu M% received the TENAA certification not long ago, and according to the certification document, the handset was supposed to come in three models depending on the amount of RAM, specifically 3 GB, 4 GB and 6 GB. It see ms a little odd at the time considering that we knew that the Meizu M5 will be a budget-friendly product, thus there was no way it would include 6 GB of RAM. Now, that the phone was officially revealed, there is no surprise to find out that Meizu did not launch a 6 GB model whatsoever. Anyway, the device is made out of polycarbonate, and it's similar to other phones with the Meizu brand in terms of design, while it will be sold in several color options. The Meizu M5 sports an HD screen that measures 5.2 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 720.

When it comes to the memory, it features 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB or 32 GB of native storage that can be expanded. Further, the smartphone is underpinned by an MT6750 SoC clocked at 1.5 GHz, and it's kept alive by a battery with a capacity of 3,070 mAh. The capacity of the battery is 10% larger than the one of its predecessor, the Meizu M3, which was announced this Spring. Yes, for some reason, the manufacturer decided not to use the Meizu M4 designation anymore.

In the camera department, the handset integrates a 13 MP primary shooter located on the back side, which according to the company, is capable of focusing and taking the actual photo in just 0.2 seconds. Under the primary shooter, there us also a dual-LED, dual tone flash. On the front size, the phone comes with the well-known mBack physical button, which can also be used as a fingerprint recognition sensor. Furthermore, the smartphone has dual SIM capabilities, and the secondary SIM slot can be used as a microSD card slot for storage expansion. As already mentioned, the Meizu M5 will be availble in 5 color options, namely Blue, Champagne Gold, Matte Black, Mint Green and White. The Chinese variant will be base on  YunOS 5.1, while the model which will be sold on a global scale will run Android OS topped by the company's Flyme custom skin.

As far as the pricing details go, the Meizu M5 with 2 GB of RAM will be sold in exchange for 699 Yuan ($103), while the model including 3 GB of RAM will have a price of 899 Yuan ($132). These are the price tags for the Chinese market, and the phone will have a different price when it will hit other markets.
