Motorola has published the official list of Moto devices that will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow official OTA update.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow will start to roll out next week for the latest Google Nexus phones like the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6, which means that the Motorola models should follow soon after that. It has been confirmed that most Motorola smartphones that have been released this year are going to be updated to Android 6.0 along with several smartphones released last year.
This brand new official Android OS upgrade is dubbed to be better and more stable than the previous Android 5.x Lollipop iteration. Marshmallow 6.0 firmware update should offer better performance, a smarter memory management, improved battery life due to Doze feature, higher security and tons of other tweaks that should greatly improve the Android experience.
Here's the list of all the Motorola devices that will get the Android 6.0 treatment later this year. The 2015 models: Moto X Pure Edition 3rd-gen, Moto X Style 3rd-gen, Moto X Play and the Moto G 3rd-gen. And here are the 2014 models: Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd-gen), Moto X 2nd-gen in Latin America, Europe and Asia, 2nd-gen Moto G and Moto with 4G LTE, Moto MAXX, DROID Turbo and Moto Turbo.
The Motorola Nexus 6 phones will be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow directly by Google, which means that it will be the first Motorola device to receive the firmware files over-the-air. The Nexus 6 devices are scheduled for Android 6.0 Lollipop update next week.
If you own one of the Motorola devices listed above, then you should keep a close eye on Motorola's blog page and on all your favorite Android-based websites in order to find out when the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update rolls out. Keep in mind that this new firmware update will only be pushed for Motorola devices running the 100% stock Android OS.
