In case you own a Motorola Droid RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, Atrix HD or RAZR M you will be happy to hear that now there is a method to unlock the bootloader of your smartphone. If you are not familiar with this sort of things, Motorola devices are the only ones that haven't been cracked yet, and now it seems that somebody finally did it.

The person who has succeeded in unlocking the bootloaders of the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, Atrix HD and RAZR M is Dan Rosenberg and even though it has not made the method public yet, we have no doubt that this is the real deal  because this he has a lot of history with Motorola Handsets.

Unfortunately, the this doesn't work on all Motorola smartphones. To be more exact, if your device sports an OMAP CPU, such as the Bionic, the bootloader can't be unlocked using this method because these kinds of handsets feature a different security system that hasn't been cracked yet. However, it looks like this new method does work according to the users of the forum. We don't know much about the exploit, but we do know that you have to root the device first. Also, it's better not to install the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the RAZR HD which is available over the air.

This is a big game changer as until now Motorola's encryption has been very effective. As soon as the method is perfected it will surely be published and the users of the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, Atrix HD and RAZR M will be able to unlock the bootloaders of their phones.

When more information about the matter will be available, we will let you know.

It is about time. Thanks Dan.
I purchased the xt926m Droid MAXX HD in hopes to unlock the phone.
The phone has the 4.1.2 and it was stated it was better to have 4.1.1 and would that make harder to unlock?
