Earlier this month, Oppo launched its first selfie-focused smartphone with an 18:9 aspect ratio display in India, the F5. At launch, the smartphone was only available in a single variant with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. Today, the company launched the 6GB RAM variant in the country at Rs.24,990 ($388). The Oppo F5 with 6GB RAM comes in two colors - Red and Black.

Apart from packing 6GB of RAM, the new version also included 64GB of internal storage. The 4GB RAM version, on the other hand, only includes 32GB of internal storage. However, expanding the storage on both models is very easy, thanks to a dedicated microSD card slots. Most smartphones these days feature a Hybrid Dual SIM configuration, forcing users to choose between expanding the storage and adding a second SIM card. The Oppo F5, fortunately, is an exception. Powering the smartphone is MediaTek’s Helio P23 16nm octa-core chipset with a Mali G71 MP2 GPU.

The biggest USP of the Oppo F5 is its 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution. Protecting the bezel-less display is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In the camera department, the F5 impresses with a 16MP rear camera and a 20MP selfie camera. The 16MP rear camera is paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens and an LED flash. The front-facing 20MP camera uses a 1/2.8” type sensor and an f/2.0 aperture lens. Connectivity features offered by the mid-range smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with GLONASS, and 4G LTE. Keeping the lights on is a 3200mAh capacity battery, although fast charging isn’t supported. In terms of software, the smartphone runs on Oppo’s custom Color OS 3.2 version, based on Android 7.1 Nougat.

“Our focus has always been to bring the best photography and Selfie experience to the Indian consumers. We are excited to announce this collaboration with Vogue on their 10th anniversary for the OPPO F5 6GB Red Edition for all the fashion divas who love taking selfies and capture precious moments,” said Will Yang, Brand Director at Oppo India.
