Samsung is making important efforts to provide on-time updates for all its Android-based devices. We’re talking about the monthly roll outs which, as you already know, aims to address software relates issues and to secure the overall Android UI. Thus, in that regard a new OTA was officially released for the Galaxy J4, an OTA which is bringing the April 2019 Security Patch on your smartphone.

This is the latest Android update provided by Samsung for the Galaxy J4. And as always, it’s pushed out gradually – the OTA is released in phases and will soon embrace all the J4 models from all around the world. For now, the April 2019 Security patch is available in Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Panama, and in a few other markets too.

If your phone is eligible for receiving this firmware you should automatically be notified when the OTA is ready for your device. Shortly, you will receive a new update notification and from there you only have to follow on-screen prompts for setting up the April 2019 Security Patch.

The update itself it’s not major. As a monthly build the software isn’t bringing new features, apps or a new Android functionality. You will however receive security add-ons which will protect your online and offline Android activity. Moreover, since this is an official OS improvement you will be enjoying a fully stable platform that will smoothly run on a daily basis.

As already outlined, for being able to receive the April 2019 Security Patch, your Samsung Galaxy J4 must be eligible: your phone must run on official Android OS and the internal software system shouldn’t be tweaked – for example, if root was gained you won’t be able to receive the OTA and in that case a manual update operation will have to be followed.

By the way, the full firmware package is available for download, which means that you can choose to manually set up the April 2019 Security Patch on your Samsung Galaxy J4. For being able to do so, Odin must be used – Odin is the official flashing tool developed by Samsung especially for such flashing procedures. A computer must be used if you want to use Odin: you will have to run Odin on your PC and install the update package from the flashing program.

So, there you have it; the April 2019 Security Patch is official released for your Samsung Galaxy J4. Go to Settings - > Software update and choose Download updates manually. Enjoy.
