History repeats itself. For those of you who can't remember, Samsung has tried to take advantage from the popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S3 when it launched the Galaxy S3 Mini at a price that was too high for its technical specifications. The same happens with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, the smaller version of the highly appreciated Galaxy S4 flagship that was already sold in 10 million copies.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was officially introduced a few days ago and it is set to hit the market sometime in July. The South Korea-based failed to announce its official price, but the terminal was spotted in the offers of some retailers in the United Kingdom and Ukraine, with an exaggeratedly high price tag.
Let's have a look at the technical specifications list of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. The 4.3-inch display doesn't even come with HD resolution, but, at least, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset should be capable to provide a fluid Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean experience. The amount of RAM is just right (1.5 GB for the 3G model and 2 GB for the LTE variant), while the 8 GB of internal storage can be expanded using microSD cards.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will come with sport some of the features and functions of the Galaxy S4 flagship, but they are not enough to justify the price of around $612 that was listed at the aforementioned stores. Samsung Galaxy S3 and a series of other high-end smartphones launched last year are cheaper and provide better technical specifications.
Anyway, we are expecting the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini to drop over time and to better match its real position on the market. Despite the new-gen chipset, the S4 Mini is outmatched by the Galaxy S3 and it shouldn't be more expensive than it.
