A day without news about the Samsung Galaxy S4 is like a rainy day. Fortunately, we didn't have one of those days for a while. One of the latest rumors claims that the flagship will sport 5G Wi-Fi, also known as 802.11ac, according to a source familiar with the company's plans. The new Wi-Fi technology is developed with high speeds in mind, and it will also be more reliable. In other words, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will have a Wi-Fi speed that could be compared with a wired network. This is not just a fantasy story because a series of tests have been made on the first set of routers and the results are pretty impressive with the Netgear R6300 managed to score 300Mb per second.
Michael Hurlston, who is the general manager Broadcom (a company which is one of the best in the wireless broadband communication industry), stated that their company is the only chip seller that powers the new routers, client devices and access points. He also said that BCM4335 (a combo SoC that offers 802.11ac, FM radio and Bluetooth 4.0, all in one) is the best addition brought to the 5GB Wi-Fi devices, making the handsets to the next generation products when it comes to wireless connectivity.
The Broadcom BCM4335 is said to be implemented on the Galaxy S4, after a set of verification tasks will be completed, said Patrick Wang from Evercore Partners. He added that some checks have already been made and the results indicate that the combo chip be included on the next flagship smartphone of the South Korean manufacturer namely the Samsung Galaxy S4.
If we take into consideration the fact that Broadcom is well known for the quality of its products, there is no surprise that Samsung if looking for only the best options out there.
With the technology is supported by more and more routers that hit the market, and Samsung's lust for having the number one device in the world, a Galaxy S4 with 5G Wi-Fi technology is very probable.
As for the other specs, reports say that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will come with a 5-inch full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T, a 13 megapixel rear-camera, and will be running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
