The first models of the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro are receiving the official April 2019 Security Patch in form of a new OTA roll out. The firmware is currently available in Mexico, on Telcel, though further regions will be soon receiving the same OS package.
This is a minor OS improvement made available for the Galaxy J2 Pro. You won’t be getting a new Android functionality, nor new features, apps or capabilities. The April 2019 Security Patch is the new iteration of the monthly software package provided by Samsung. This roll out which is pushed out by Samsung for most of its Android-powered handsets in order to smooth up the overall Android experience.
In our case the April 2019 Security Patch will add bug fixes and stability improvement for fixing recently reported malfunctions. Of course, the goal will be to secure your online and offline activity, regardless of the apps that you choose to download and run on your Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro.
In that regard, the update is fully stable, clean, light and quite agile. You won’t be facing any issues while using your phone on a daily basis as the functionality is smooth and well balanced between performance and battery life.
As usually, the roll out is pushed out in phases so some users will receive the Android notification sooner than others. Also, for being able to receive the OTA your phone must be eligible: it must already run on official Android OS and its software system shouldn’t be tweaked or modified (so, if a custom ROM was added, or if root was gained you won’t be able to receive the April 2019 Security patch ‘by air’).
This update file can be downloaded from online sources, which means that it can be manually installed on your Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro via Odin. In that way you can skip the usual OTA wait and you can also apply the April 2019 Security path on tweaked smartphones. Do note that Odin must be installed on a computer, where the full firmware package should be located. Then, from the flashing program you can easily install the update file.
